GOOSE WATCH WINERY
Opening in 1997, Goose Watch is noted as one of New York’s most unique wineries for its setting as well as its wines. Goose Watch has one of the loveliest views of Cayuga Lake, situated in a beautifully restored century-old barn nestled within one of the area’s only commercial chestnut groves. Visitors can enjoy a picnic lunch on their deck or beautiful grounds. And what makes us even more unique is that you can get to them by land or sea (well, ok–lake).
Pinot Grigio
Production Notes: An uncommon grape for the Finger Lakes, but one of their most renowned. Residual Sugar: 0.5%, pH: 3.23, Acid: 6.15 g/l
Tasting & Pairing Notes: This dry white wine boasts aromas of apple and pear with a hint of cream in the finish. Pairs best with seafood, poultry, cream based sauces and winter vegetables.
Traminette
Production Notes: A Cornell developed varietal that, typically made into a sweeter white, we’ve kept it’s wonderfully smooth and complex dry characteristics. Residual Sugar: 1.1%, pH: 3.22, Acid: 6.45 g/l
Tasting & Pairing Notes: Reminiscent to Gewürztraminer with its spicy aromas, yet has fruity, almost tropical, flavors that add to its complexity and lusciousness. The crisp fruit flavors and spicy finish makes this a great accompaniment to many Asian dishes or entrees with a little bit of spice.
Riesling-Gewürztraminer
Production Notes: Varietal Composition: 60% Riesling, 40% Gewürztraminer. Residual Sugar: 0.75%, pH: 3.08, Acid: 6.20 g/l
Tasting & Pairing Notes: The pairing of two Finger Lakes premier whites has produced this unforgettable dry white wine with the clean fruity flavors of a Riesling combined with the classic spiciness from the Gewürztraminer. This synergistic blend is crisp and elegant, that pairs well with a variety of foods from grilled chicken, to pork chops, to slightly spicy Asian foods.
